Piano Lessons

I have taught many students to play by note as well as by ear. I love delving into the inner workings of music theory so my students understand the how’s and why’s of music. I have taught many levels of piano players and students of all ages are welcome.

Violin Lessons

Carefully guided exercises and instruction is offered for students to build a solid foundation of mechanics, technique, and music theory. I aim to equip my students with the ability to shape their sound for expressive playing. Whether just starting out or advancing, students of all ages are welcome.

Wondering if Your Child is Ready for Lessons?

Here are some questions that will help you assess if your child is ready to learn an instrument:

Does your child know the alphabet?
Music uses the first 7 letters of the alphabet. Being able to recognize and write letters is a definite plus.

Does your child know left from right?

Dexterity - can your child tie a shoe or button small buttons?
Having fine motor control greatly aids in placing fingers on strings or keys. If fine motor skills still need to be developed, usually waiting a year or so sorts it out and your child will find making music more enjoyable.

Is your child able to focus on tasks for several minutes at a time?
Learning an instrument takes a lot of mental work. While discipline can be developed with lessons, the ability to stay on task for a short period of time will allow your child to be more successful when studying an instrument.
